New River Gorge glamping at Star Farm is two adults, one hand-built stay, and ten gated acres five minutes from the national park entrance.

Reserve your stay

Cathedral Cabin, $251–$552 a night, next two months

Cathedral Cabin, open now

A Scandinavian A-frame of glass and wood, built for two. I bought the best shell I could find and spent six months building the rest of it myself.

There's a deep soaking tub in the bathroom. One guest called it a mini spa, which is about right after a day on the trails.

The Observatory: a geodesic dome for two

The Observatory opens in March 2027. It is a geodesic dome built for a longer stay, with a full kitchen, laundry and a private cedar sauna. In peak summer, it runs a little warm from 3 PM to 7 PM, about 72 degrees inside.

Ten acres behind one gate

You come in past the sign and the old tractor, then through a keypad gate with your code. Each stay faces open field, 50 to 60 feet from the next.

Deer come out in the meadow at dusk and dawn. After dark the fireflies start, and the whole field lights up. Everyone inside the gate came here for the same reason you did.

Five minutes from the park

The New River Gorge National Park entrance is five minutes down the road. Do a trail in the morning, look through a vintage shop in Fayetteville, have a good dinner, and come back to a place that is yours for the night.

What happens after you reserve

Reserve here and your stay goes straight onto the Star Farm calendar. Before you arrive you get the gate code, your door code and the guest guide, with everything you need for the stay and the area around it.
