Who we are

Star Farm LLC runs Star Farm, a group of stays for two at 1 Starry Sky Lane, Fayetteville, WV 25840. In this policy, “Star Farm”, “we” and “us” mean Star Farm LLC.

This policy covers starfarmwv.com, our booking and checkout pages, the guest portal, and the email we send. When you use them, you agree to this policy.

What we collect

What you give us:

  • When you book: your name, email, phone number, the number of guests, your dates and any promo code. Your card details go straight to our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.
  • When you start a booking and do not finish: what you typed, such as your name, email and phone number.
  • When you join our email list, or leave your email for a stay that is not open yet: your email.
  • When you send us a message: your name, your email and the message.
  • When you sign in to the guest portal: your last name, the last 4 digits of your phone number, and sometimes your check-in date.
  • When you buy add-ons for your stay, such as early check-in: your name, your email, the items and the payment.

What your browser and device tell us:

  • Your IP address, your approximate location (city and region), and your device, browser and screen size.
  • The pages you visit, the page you came from, and the links, ads or campaign codes that brought you here.

What others tell us:

  • If you book a Star Farm stay on another booking site, that site and our reservation system send us your name, your contact details and your stay.
  • Our payment processor tells us the card brand, the last 4 digits and the result of each payment.

How we use it

  • To take your booking and payment, and to run your stay: confirmations, door and gate codes, and the guest guide.
  • To answer your messages.
  • To send you email about Star Farm: news, openings and offers.
  • To charge amounts you agreed to in the booking terms, such as the cost of repair after damage or a broken ground rule.
  • To keep Star Farm, our guests and the site safe: to stop fraud and abuse, to enforce the ground rules, and to look into problems.
  • To learn how people find and use the site, and to make it better.
  • To meet our legal, tax and accounting duties, and to make or defend legal claims, including payment disputes.

Email from us

When you give us your email, to book, to start a booking, to join our list, to send a message or to buy add-ons, we can add you to our email list. We then send you news, openings and offers.

Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. If you unsubscribe, you still get the email about your booking and your stay.

Who we share it with

We share information with the companies that help us run Star Farm. Each one gets what it needs for its job:

  • Our payment processor.
  • Our reservation system, which also carries guest messages.
  • Our email services, for the email we send and receive.
  • Our hosting, data storage and security providers.
  • Our analytics providers.
  • The messaging app that alerts the host about bookings, sign-ins, orders and site errors.

We can also share information:

  • When the law requires it, or to answer a court order, a subpoena or a request from the police.
  • To protect our rights, our property and the safety of our guests and others, and to collect money owed to us.
  • With a buyer or a new owner, if Star Farm or its assets are sold or change hands.
  • With your permission.

We do not sell your personal information for money.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar tools. Some are our own:

  • A visitor ID that links your visits, kept for 30 days after your last visit.
  • A record of how you found us, such as a link or a campaign code, kept for 90 days.
  • A checkout cookie, kept for one hour after you pay, and a guest portal sign-in that ends after your stay.

Others belong to the companies we use. Our analytics providers measure visits and bookings. When you book, we can send your email, phone number and name to an analytics provider to measure bookings. Our payment processor uses cookies to process payments and to stop fraud. These companies use information under their own privacy policies, and some of them can collect information about your activity over time and across other websites.

We can add other analytics or advertising tools later. When we do, we update this policy.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Parts of the site, such as checkout, may not work without them. We do not respond to Do Not Track signals.

Payments and the card on file

Our payment processor handles every payment. When you book, it saves your payment method. The booking terms let us charge it after your stay for the cost of repair after damage or a broken ground rule. We tell you before any such charge.

Our payment processor uses your information under its own privacy policy.

Security cameras

Star Farm has exterior security cameras. They record outside areas, and they can record you, your guests and your vehicles.

There are no cameras inside the stays.

We use the recordings for security, to enforce the ground rules, and for damage, insurance or legal claims. We can share them with the police or an insurer.

How long we keep it

We keep information as long as we need it for the reasons in this policy. That includes booking, payment and tax records, and anything we need for a dispute, a claim or safety. Backups can keep copies for longer.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, and the companies we use protect it too. No website, email or storage is fully secure, so we cannot promise that your information is never seen, lost or changed without permission. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for access that we could not reasonably prevent.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe from our email at any time, with the link in any email.
  • Ask us for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct or delete it. Email [email protected]. We may ask you to prove who you are first.

We can keep information when the law requires or allows it, such as booking, payment and tax records, and information we need for a dispute, a claim or safety. If a state privacy law gives you more rights and applies to Star Farm, we follow it.

Children

Star Farm is for adults 25 and over. The site is not for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we did, we delete it.

Visitors from outside the United States

Star Farm is in the United States, and we store and use information here. If you visit from another country, your information comes to the United States, where the law can differ from the law where you live.

Changes to this policy

We can change this policy at any time. The date at the top shows the last change. A change applies when we post it here. If you use the site or book after a change, you accept the new policy.

Governing law

The law of West Virginia and the federal law of the United States govern this policy. Any dispute about it goes to the state courts of Fayette County, West Virginia, or to the federal court for the Southern District of West Virginia.
